What are attic windows called?

Gabel and trapezoid windows and dormer windows

What happens if your attic is not vented?

If the attic is not regularly ventilated, there will be a high level of humidity. This would increase the chance of mold growth, rotting, and excessive heating in the area. Over heating may be a large issue as the attic is located at the top part of the house and heat rises upwards. Humid conditions in the room may trap the hot air causing issues. Attics are less insulated than regular ceilings and in hot outdoor conditions, heat may enter from the roof and window(s) into the attic right under. Also causing issues and discomfort. The temperature difference between the room and attic may be over 140 Fahrenheit (80℃) This is twice the difference than would occur under cold conditions.

What is the best attic vent?

In most cases ventilation in attics is very minor. This is due to the attic being located away from the duct. Attics are, unless custom designed, are not included under the ventilation system of the rest on the home. Because of this, natural ventilation in attics in important. The most optimal way to ventilate the attic is with a window. The window type we would recommend for this is tilt and turn.

What is the best way to vent an attic?

The best way to ventilate an attic space is by using tilt turn windows. They would act as an attic window vent. They are fast to use, operate efficiently, and add value to your home.

Our tilt turn windows have 3 modes of ventilation. They are the tilt, turn, and micro-ventilation mode. To have the window tilt inwards (the tilt mode), you need to turn the handle up 180 degrees (so that the handle would to be facing the ceiling). When this is done, the window is not able to be tilted inwards. This allows for passive ventilation. For the micro-ventilation feature, the handle would need to be turned roughly 140-145 degrees from the locked position in which the handle tip is facing the floor. After this motion, the window would then be able to tilt inwards but just a little. In this mode, there is a small narrow gap at the top of the window. It allows for slow but still smooth air exchange. For fast, more rapid ventilation, you can select the turn mode by turning the handle 90 degrees so that it is parallel to the floor. When the handle is in this position, the window is able to swing inwards. Tilt and turn, European windows, open inwards due to its practicality. When windows open inwards this way, it provides access to the side which is closet to the exterior (the one visible from the outside). This is very useful for cleaning the window and other maintenance tasks. It is an especially handy feature for an attic window because those are usually higher off the ground and are generally require more work to get good access for cleaning. Tilt turn windows are also very easy to use. Their large handle and fast operation make it very user-friendly and intuitive enough for anyone of almost any age. The window operates smoothly and does not pose resistance when opening it.
